Reverend Denise M. Childers is a retired Elder in the Virginia Annual Conference of the UMC.  She is married to Clayton Childers, also clergy, who serves at Silverbrook UMC.

Pastor Denise retired in 2016, after having served United Methodist churches in South Carolina from 1993 through 2001 and in Virginia from 2001 until her retirement. She also served as a Mental Health chaplain for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health from 1986 through 1993 and has served as a hospital chaplain in Manassas and Haymarket in recent years.

 Upon her retirement as a fulltime pastor, she served for seven years as the Director of Senior Adult Ministries at Grace UMC in Manassas, which is where she currently worships and takes part in ministry, along with her daughter, Allison, and four of her grandkids.

 Pastor Denise and her husband Clayton,  are the parents of two daughters; Allison and her spouse Ben, who live in the Manassas area, and Carly and her spouse Harrison, who live in Richmond. They are grateful to have five grandchildren,  ages 15 through 2,  who they love to spend time with and join for adventures and car rides on a regular basis!  They feel very blessed to have precious family in their lives regularly.

Pastor Denise serves as the Co-Chair of the Virginia Annual Conference Older Adult Council and enjoys working on behalf of older adults.  She also continues to facilitate a Grief Support Group regularly at Grace UMC in Manassas.
